Why We Love NeoPar®
OwyheeStar has used the NEOPAR® vaccine for almost twenty years. They have never lost a pup to Parvo. That being said, the clients have not always exercised the caution as advised--which is nothing short of scary.

Despite what you might have heard about this shot not counting for anything (because it is too early to give a puppy shot) evidence proves otherwise. The sixteen-week titer tests have consistently shown our pups have immunity when the OwyheeStar Vaccine Protocol is followed. The importance of this cannot be overstated.

The Weimaraner protocol (as recommended by the Weimaraner Club of America) has seen change on several occasions. Nonetheless, the use of
the NEOPAR® vaccine has always been part of the OwyheeStar puppy protocol. Clearly, it is a high-titer producing vaccine. Despite some objections, the six-week shot has proven effective.

Subsequent puppy vaccine needs to follow the exact OwyheeStar (Weimaraner) protocol recommended. Your Veterinary will not automatically follow this protocol; it will not happen for reasons too complicated to explain. Consider this one fact--their practice and protocol serve a broad-based clientele. Very few practitioners see that many Weims--for this reason, they must gear their practice to the more common canine clients.

NEOPAR®

Parvovirus Vaccine – Modified Live Virus

Features:

  • Core Disease Protection
Induces protection against the most lethal and prevalent viral disease of dogs, canine parvovirus
  • Maximum Protection
Contains a High Antigen Mass (more vaccine units per dose) which results in:

    • Short period from vaccination to protection
    • Higher level of protection (many times greater than the level needed for basic protection)
    • Long duration of immunity
  • Early Age Protection
Stimulates antibody production in the presence of existing maternal antibodies
  • First Dose Protection
Antibody production begins after the first dose. Other canine parvovirus vaccines require two or three doses to stimulate an initial antibody response.
  • Single Antigen Vaccine

    • Eliminates the need to use complex combination adult vaccines (commonly referred to as 5-way vaccines) in the young puppy
    • More efficient in stimulating antibody production than complex combination vaccines
  • Safety
    • Found to be safe for use in young puppies
    • Less likely to produce a vaccine reaction than complex combination vaccines <==Vitally Important with the Vaccine sensitive Weimaraner!
Comment: The handling and care of the vaccine follows a strict protocol. It arrives in a quick-ship polar pack. Upon arrival, it goes immediately into an adequately cool refrigerator. The expiration date is significant. The outdated vaccine is decarded.
